Fire and smoke alarms

Having properly installed and maintained fire and smoke alarms is an easy and cost-effective way to safeguard your property against fire. It is also a legal requirement to have a system and to have it regularly serviced. Our team offers expert advice and a wide range of options to ensure you make an informed decision.

Fire alarm system installation

Our team will work with you to determine your specific requirements for an effective alarm system. Our training and years of experience enables us to design and install a system that results in fewer false alarms and more accurate detection of life threatening situations. A typical installation process includes:
•    Deciding how the system will be connected and zoned
•    Identifying the fire panel requirements
•    Choosing the types of detectors
•    Connecting the detectors, sounders and other sensors to the panel
•    Testing the system for functionality
•    Completing commercial installation certificates

Fire alarm system maintenance

We offer a range of maintenance contracts to suit a wide range of needs. Our team will discuss your needs with you and determine which contract level is best suited. A typical maintenance call involves:
•    Checking all components including wiring and connections
•    Testing battery charging rates and power supply
•    Testing all detectors and manual devices
•    Inspecting and testing all sirens and speakers
•    Testing remote signalling equipment

Emergency Lighting

Our team installs, maintains and repairs a wide range of emergency lighting systems including:

Non-maintained systems
These systems illuminate in the event of a mains failure.
Maintained systems
These systems illuminate at all times using the same lamps for both normal and emergency operation.
Sustained systems
These systems are fitted with two sets of lamps, one which operates on the mains supply and the other which is battery-powered in the event of a mains failure.

Emergency lighting tests

Daily
Daily checks only apply to emergency lighting systems with one central backup battery system or emergency generator. This requires a daily visual inspection of the central power supply.
Monthly
All emergency lighting systems must go through a short functional test monthly. This involves a period of simulated failure during which all luminaries and signs must be checked. They should all be present, clear and functioning correctly. The test must be recorded in the emergency lighting logbook.
Annually
A test for the full rated duration of the emergency lighting system must be carried out annually and any defects remedied.
